I love my holiday house. My parents and I have gone to the house every summer for at least ten years whilst I’m on school holidays and it’s the best. I spend all my time swimming in the pool and hanging out in the gardens. The house is massive and really old but beautiful, and I feel like some sort of French princess when I’m living there.

Sometimes it gets hot in Canberra where our holiday house is. Even in summer, this doesn’t happen that often, and we don’t usually ever have to turn the air conditioning on. This summer however has been so hot. I’m talking like thirty degrees every day. I can’t remember anything like this happening ever before. I asked mum if we could turn the air conditioner on, and she said we can’t because we need air conditioning repairs. Around Canberra, it’s not always this hot, and I don’t even know if there are people out there that know how to repair and air conditioning. I won’t be able to sleep at night if we don’t get it repaired. I can’t stay in the pool forever.

Mum said that she’s called someone and they’re going to come and fix the air conditioner tomorrow. Thank goodness. It’s been three days since it started getting hot and I feel like I’m melting away. I don’t know how to function in the heat, and instead of feeling like a French princess, I feel like I’m a swamp gremlin hanging out in the pool. I’m so wrinkly.

Okay, here’s an update – they’ve repaired the air conditioning unit. Canberra will hopefully never be this hot again and so hopefully after this summer, we won’t have to use it anymore. I love Canberra because I don’t really like the heat. I like mild temperatures. I’ll swim even at 20 degrees. Anything above that is bordering on too hot.

Until next summer!
